Battery Protect | Victron | BatteryProtect 12/24V-100A
Product Details
The Victron BatteryProtect 12/24V-100A is an automatic low-voltage disconnect (LVD) device that protects your 12V or 24V battery from deep discharge. Rated at 100A continuous, it connects in series between the battery and your DC loads — fridges, lights, pumps, entertainment systems — automatically cutting power when battery voltage drops to a programmable threshold. When the battery recovers through solar charging or alternator input, loads reconnect automatically. Configured via a 7-segment display and rotary switch on the unit. A must-have for caravans, 4WDs, and marine applications where battery protection matters.

How It Works
The BatteryProtect installs in series between the battery and your DC loads — important: it protects loads only, never in the charge circuit or starter motor line. When battery voltage falls to the set disconnect threshold, the alarm output activates for 12 seconds as a warning before loads are cut after a 90-second delay. This delay prevents false trips from short-duration voltage sags under heavy starting loads. Once the charger (solar, alternator, or mains) raises the battery voltage back above the reconnect threshold, loads are automatically restored after a 30-second delay. MOSFET solid-state switching means no audible relay click, no arcing, and the unit is ignition-proof — suitable for fuel-present environments.
Use Cases
In caravans and camper trailers, the BatteryProtect is most commonly used to protect the house battery from being flattened by the fridge, lighting, or 12V accessories while parked off-grid. At 100A rating, it handles the combined load of a compressor fridge, LED lighting, a water pump, and 12V entertainment with headroom to spare. When camp solar brings the battery back up overnight, everything reconnects automatically.
For 4WD touring and marine applications, the BatteryProtect is installed on the auxiliary battery to ensure that running loads — ARB fridges, winch power circuits, pumps — cannot flatten the battery to the point of a no-start. The 100A rating suits most dual-battery setups, and the IP67 electronics withstand the damp, vibration, and temperature extremes of these environments.
