The Victron Smart BatteryProtect 48V-100A is an automatic low-voltage disconnect device designed for 48V battery systems. Rated at 100A continuous, it sits in series between your battery bank and DC loads — protecting your battery from deep discharge by cutting load power the moment voltage drops to a programmable threshold. Once the battery recovers (via solar, mains charger, or alternator), the unit automatically reconnects. Built-in Bluetooth enables full configuration and monitoring via the VictronConnect app. Ideal for 48V off-grid solar systems, marine setups, and lithium battery installations.

How It Works
The BatteryProtect installs in series between the battery and your DC loads — important: it protects loads only, never in the charge circuit or starter motor line. When battery voltage falls to the set disconnect threshold, the alarm output activates for 12 seconds as a warning before loads are cut after a 90-second delay. This delay prevents false trips from short-duration voltage sags under heavy starting loads. Once the charger (solar, alternator, or mains) raises the battery voltage back above the reconnect threshold, loads are automatically restored after a 30-second delay. MOSFET solid-state switching means no audible relay click, no arcing, and the unit is ignition-proof — suitable for fuel-present environments.
Use Cases
In 48V off-grid solar systems, the BatteryProtect ensures your inverter, lighting, and DC loads cannot flatten the battery bank overnight. When solar generation resumes at dawn and the bank voltage recovers, all loads reconnect automatically — no manual intervention required. Pairs well with Victron MPPT chargers and GX monitors.
On 48V marine and commercial vessels, the BatteryProtect provides a reliable last line of defence for the house battery bank. Critical navigation equipment, bilge pumps, and communications remain protected from accidental deep discharge even when the vessel is unattended at anchor.
App Control — VictronConnect
The BatteryProtect Smart includes built-in Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) for configuration and monitoring via the VictronConnect app (free, iOS and Android). Adjust disconnect and reconnect voltage thresholds, enable or disable the alarm output, view real-time battery voltage and unit status — all wirelessly from your phone. The Instant Readout feature lets you check live data without needing to pair the device. Bluetooth can also be disabled permanently for permanently installed systems where wireless access is not required.
